Well, it's July 1st here in the great white north and our first Canada Day at the new "old homestead" on the shores of the Bay of Fundy in Nova Scotia. We have had for the most part cloudy skies and the chance of rain for the past number of days, so here's hoping that "Mother Nature" is on her best behaviour and cooperates weather-wise.
Regardless of where you might find yourself today across the country, just about every community small or large is having some sort of Canada Day celebration.
Pretty much the standard go of it in most locales as it will be here, is games; music; cake; food; drinks; more music; more food; often a parade of sorts; plus.....things for the little ones and things for the bigger ones. All more often than not, topped off by a fireworks display at night.
Now, depending on where you live the end-of-day fireworks might be undertaken by a professional fireworks/pyrotechnic company....or if you're in a smaller town or village, it could be the local volunteer fire department.
We'll be able to pretty much sit on our front porch to watch the fireworks as they will be occurring over the harbour, which is just one street over from us.
Guess it really doesn't matter along as ya got some fireworks exploding overhead on a clear moonless night.
And it goes without saying, there will most definitely be a lot, and I mean a lot of red and white worn today.
So, it is a great day to celebrate all that is good/great in our country.
Are we perfect?....far from it.
There is much more to celebrate about what is good and great about Canada; the way we are as individuals; and for the most part how open and accommodating we are to those who are less fortunate and so forth.
Furthermore, the list of commendable qualities continues to grow as we reflect upon our nation. But, enough of that.
So, get your "red and white" on later today; head on down to where the fun, fun, fun is happening, and take in and thoroughly enjoy all that being Canadian is about.
--as always with love--
--- get outdoors; find inspiration; discover yourself ---
