Flag Day is a non-federal holiday in the United States that honors the history and meaning of the American Flag. Raise the flag at sunrise and lower it at sunset to adhere to the U.S. Flag Code.
In the United States, Flag Day is celebrated on June 14. It commemorates the adoption of the flag of the United States on June 14, 1777, by resolution of the Second Continental Congress. There are traditions, history, pride, and respect that are due to the nation's symbol, Old Glory.
What do the seven red stripes on the flag mean? The stripes represent the original 13 Colonies, and the stars represent the 50 states of the Union.
The flag has been changed 26 times since the new, 13-state union adopted it. The 48-star version went unchanged for 47 years, the longest time the flag went unmodified until July 4, 2007, when the current 50-star flag broke the record.
What is the only flag that can be flown above the U.S. flag?
The Christian flag may fly above the US flag only "during church services conducted by naval chaplains at sea, when the church pennant may be flown above the flag during church services for the personnel of the Navy" (Flag Code, Section 7c).
What is the rarest American flag?
The 47-star flag is rare because it represents the addition of New Mexico in January of 1912. Arizona gained its statehood in February of 1912, so the 47-star count was accurate for only one month.
Who was the only president to serve under the 13-star flag? George Washington. The only President to serve under this flag was George Washington (1789-1797). This Flag was to last for a period of 18 years. Each star and stripe represented a Colony of which there were thirteen, united nearly one year earlier by the Declaration of Independence.
State Street flags flying…
"Do people ever wonder about the flags that are put out along State Street during national events: Veterans Day, Memorial Day, other holidays?," asked Denise Beckler.
"The Boy Scouts of America is responsible for that. The Veterans supply the flags, and the Cubs & Troops put them out and pick them up. I know because my husband arranges every one of them!" (His name is Randy Beckler.)
Former Ukiahan and Veteran podcast…
Patrick Keplinger wrote, "I wanted to share with you my podcast. It's called 'The Everyday Veteran Podcast. I started it for two reasons.
"1. I want to get relevant and real information out to Veterans and their families.
"And 2. because of my Dad. I know bits and pieces of my Dad's military service and one regret I have is not finding out more before he passed. So, I started this to share an oral history of service from generation to generation. I had no idea the time it would take to schedule, film, and edit a podcast, especially video and voice. So, it is really slow going."
Pat's Dad was a Marine and former Ukiah Police Chief Fred Keplinger, beloved by everyone. His brother is "Freddie" Keplinger.
Recently, I found out that one of my Marine buddies has stage 4 cancer. I wanted to capture his story for his family before he passed so his military history would live on. Below is the link to the YouTube video of that podcast, and others I have done on my channel. The podcast can also be found on Apple Podcasts and anywhere else one consumes podcasts…Just thought I'd share. Semper Fidelis!" https://youtu.be/nlpTvCfjFA0 His email: pckeplinger@hotmail.com

The Riverside originated in Southern California where founding member, Jacob Jeanson (songwriter & guitar), was attending Westmont College in 2012. In his senior year, the band formed in hopes of winning Santa Barbara's battle of the bands. As an energetic and engaging folk band with foot stomping musical companions, the group was able to win the competition and release their first album with the winnings.
Cheer-i-o!
