A 31-year-old man already facing sentencing on a no-contest plea to false imprisonment charges was arrested earlier this month on suspicion of hit-and-run with property damage and assault with a deadly weapon — the vehicle he was driving — in Fairfield.
Jeremy Alexander Selden, who remains in Solano County Jail without bail on the false imprisonment charge pending sentencing June 7, faces more court dates on the same day on the new, additional charges, The Reporter has learned.
According to a Fairfield Police Department social media post, at around 3 p.m. May 11, dispatchers received reports of a vehicle intentionally striking another vehicle near a hotel on North Texas Street.
As officers were en route, the vehicle was seen traveling southbound on North Texas at a high rate of speed approaching Travis Boulevard before going through the intersection and hitting yet another vehicle, according to the post's wording.
The suspect — later identified as Selden, who apparently had been released on his own recognizance on the false imprisonment plea with a May 23 sentencing date — fled on foot near Clay Street. Officers quickly established a perimeter, deployed drones and began a search of the area.
Selden was found hiding in the backyard of a home in the 1500 block of Clay Street, where he was apprehended by K-9 Officer Ruckus.
Selden was subsequently booked into Solano County Jail for felony hit-and-run, assault with a deadly weapon, child cruelty with possible injury or death, and resisting arrest.
He faces further arraignment on the new charges at 8:30 a.m. June 7 in Department 9 in the Justice Center in Fairfield and will be sentenced on the false imprisonment plea at the same time and place, court and jail records show.
