The Elite High baseball program picked up its first-ever wins recently when it defeated MIT and then Buckingham Charter.
Elite had its first win against MIT by a score of 14-2. Junior T.J Hughes had five RBIs in the win. Other standouts were Armon Maxwell who got the win on the mound. Dorrion Allen had a few hits, while Lemack Bellot.who blasted a two-run double.
Later in the week Elite defeated Buckingham Charter 11-6. Hughes pitched a great game, only giving up three hits and Armon Maxwell closed out the game to seal the deal.
Maisen McCleod had two hits one including a triple, while Hughes had three hits and four RBIs. Allen and Emanuel Daughtery each had a pair of hits, while Bellot also had two hits including a double.
Badminton
Bethel, Vallejo athletes advance at Tri-County Athletic League tournament
The Tri-County Athletic League badminton tournament was held this week and many Vallejo and Jesse Bethel High athletes moved on to the next round.
For Vallejo, Mixed Doubles group Cindy Yu and Rodonel Escobar came in first place and advanced.
In boys singles, Kyle Mabasa came in second place and will move on, while the boys doubles team of Moses Sidon and Joshua Vicente advanced. In boys singles, Jason Arucan is an alternate for the next round, the same with the boys doubles team of Cyrus David and Keyara Pascua.
For Jesse Bethel, the boys doubles team of Zavyn Camacho/Fernando Borrayo-Garcia came in third place and advanced, while Harnaman Khaira and Tamyah George moved on with fourth-place finishes in boys and girls singles respectively.
The North Coast Section tournament is Saturday at James Logan High.
Softball
Benicia 4, Berean Christian 0
The Benicia High softball team defeated Berean Christian 4-0 on Tuesday.
Alana Robinson and Ary Banks-Lockhart each had had two hits and an RBI, while Bre Gomez also had a hit and and drove in a run. Morgan Kacalek had a hit and two RBIs, while Emma French and Braxton Brown collected hits.
Robinson was also stellar in the circle with a complete-game two hitter. She struck out 13 batters in the win.
Benicia moved to 12-7-1 overall with the victory.
