The scene played out on March 1 about 4:15 p.m. in the area of Bancroft Way and Telegraph Avenue. A person who was one of several who tried to help the man and put out the flames also was hospitalized. The severity of that person's injuries never were announced. Police have not released any additional details about the incident. A video of the incident taken by people at the scene has been viewed thousands of times.
