The start of this week feels like it is FAR TOO EARLY for the start of this week.
I know that doesn't make much sense as a sentence, but I suspect there are plenty enough of you that feel exactly the same way as I do - the start of this week came far too early.
Don't try and say otherwise, but many of you feel exactly this way, regardless of the time of year. It could be a Monday morning and the start of a new work week in July or it could be like today. three weeks(more or less) until Christmas.
As I'm sitting here this morning at the new "old homestead" - I kept thinking to myself, "why am I so fu@king exhausted?"
Then it hit me hard like a feather caressing my forehead, we had a busy weekend.
Something along the lines of - from the time I got up Saturday morning until I went to bed Saturday night - I had been up for 21 hours. All followed by not enough sleep and then a semi-long day on Sunday. On top of that, I have this nagging sinus condition(not COVID) - that seemed better on Sunday - but not so much better this morning.
So, what does all this mean other than a brief recap of my weekend and the overall start of the week's health condition? Nothing really.
This is the time of year when it is overly easy to completely exhaust oneself without really giving any thought to it. In as much as the Christmas and holiday season is about a lot of things, it is also about pacing oneself. And pacing oneself from a physical perspective and also a mental and emotional standpoint as well.
There is a lot of pressure placed on folks at this time of year. And this pressure can come at us from just about every direction. Do this; don't do that; expectations that are realistic and unrealistic all in the same breath. Not to mention the pressure that we misguidingly heap upon ourselves.
So, take some time over the next few weeks to look after yourself. However you do that, will look and be totally different for each one of you.
There are no prizes handed out for exhaustion and being totally spent by the time Christmas Eve shows up.
Remember, the run-up to Christmas and through until the New Year is a bit of a marathon....not a sprint.
