San Francisco International Wine Competition is one of the largest—and most influential—in the World
Golden Oak Micro Cellars, a family operated Winery and Vineyard on Jones Road, is bringing home another two medals awarded by the San Francisco International Wine Competition. Golden Oak, who has been handcrafting wines in New Waverly for about eight years, and opened the doors to the public in October 2020, received a Silver Medal for its Blanc Du Bois 2020 white wine, and a Bronze Medal for its Merlot 2020 red wine. "We are particularly proud because Texas Wines continue to have a strong performance at Americas biggest wine competition", says Winemaker and founder Alex Bader.
The SFIWC is one of the largest—and most influential—wine competitions. Now celebrating its 39th year, it's one of the oldest international wine competitions in the world. Year after year, the SFIWC takes great pride in maintaining its commitment to its founding principles. Throughout the judging process, the competition emphasizes integrity and impartiality with a blind tasting process that guarantees that every entry is judged fairly and given equal consideration. Recognition by the SFIWC indicates the highest caliber of quality in the industry.
Currently, Golden Oak offers a portfolio of a dozen wines, and timely for the Holidays, released a Brandy induced sweet dessert wine. The tasting room is open from Friday from 2pm – 7pm, Saturday from noon – 7pm, and Sunday from noon – 5pm.
