Having now fallen into a completely ridiculous and pointless streak of creating and publishing a blog post daily, has led me to the stage of "actually needing material to post" - in order to maintain the above-noted "completely ridiculous and pointless streak."
Currently, I'm mulling over and thinking about an update to a post from a year or so ago on finding one's path in life. That feeling of being stuck in some rut in your life and the sense that daily all you are capable of ..............is simply treading water - so........ after a while you finally manage a couple of breast strokes and end up thinking; searching, and ultimately doing the work necessary to "find a new path" or to "pick a new lane."
This post isn't about that.
It's about "weekends don't count unless you spend them doing something completely pointless."
When it comes to compiling some arbitrary list of the greatest quotes of all time or certainly 2022, this has to rate right up there. For these wondering, Bill Watterson is the creator(both cartoonist and writer) of the famous "Calvin and Hobbs" cartoon strip.
To say people, not all people though, are busy, busy, busy would be one of the most magnificent understatements of all time. Of course, we're all busy.
Most are actually busy, and some are busy only in their own minds.
Having said that, we all know at least one person; couple; or family that goes flat out/light speed five days a week(I mean really flat out) and then fills every possible second on the weekend with activities; sports; events; and "things"....... and low and behold.....are the first ones to complain that they have no time.
My experience with many who unfortunately into this trap and yes I said the word "trap" - is a pathological inability to say "NO."
That's correct - "NO."
A good point to remember is that "NO" is not a bad word. It isn't cursing like the phrase "fu@k you"; nor is it even close to a "salty word" - whatever a slightly "salty word" might be.
The point of the quote(there may be more than one meaning) in the graphic is we all need time to unwind; to relax... to chill if we want.
The weekend has and continues to fulfill that role just fine. If you're blasting through your life at "warp speed", filling every waking moment with work; sports; clubs; events; or whatever seven days a week; fifty-two weeks a year..........when do you decompress; chill; relax and re-group?
When do you take even a moment to reflect?
My experience or what I've come to discover is this.
All of us, regardless if running "flat out" or cruising along through life at a "nice even pace" tend to operate or travel(if you will) along a freeway of doing and experiencing the same things. We have defined fences or boundaries - our comfort zone - and not very often do we come close to venturing out near the "fence line" or seeing what the edge of our comfort zone is like.
The weekend is the perfect time to change that.
Do something different; do something pointless; push out towards to edges of your boundaries; stretch out and make your "comfort zone" a bit bigger. Life is meant to be lived; to be experienced' to experience new things - not to be lived within the boundaries or fences that keep us from - "new things/experiences."
Today(Sunday) is the perfect day to do "something pointless"
Make your weekend count.
--as always with love--
--- get outdoors; find inspiration; discover yourself ---
