Yesterday, I wrote a piece called, "Desire and Action" looking(albeit briefly) at, the relationship that exists between desire; wants; wishes, and the absolute need for action to bring those things into any form of reality.
Whatever that action might be, it always starts with a decision.
Much like a bridge that spans a river or body of water and connects to land on either side, "a decision followed by action" is the bridge that connects "wants; desires; wishes" to their potential realization on the opposite side.
One problem I think we all have in many instances is we "think too much."
We can over-analyze a situation to the point where the opportunity; the situation either has passed us by or we've made it far more complicated than it ever needed to be. Or we expend so much time and energy "over-thinking" something, that when/if "the something" presents itself we find that there is "nothing left in the tank" to take action with.
In my own experience, there are those times and in fact, many times, where we might have been better served with more action and far less "thinking."
I would have missed the cloud and fog over Cape Blomidon in the distance or the sun rising in the east over the horizon of "2nd Beach" if I had spent too much time and effort thinking about, whether should I throw a jacket on and tie up my boots and head down to the ocean. Those moments would have entirely passed me by.
Make the decision to take the first step in a certain direction and then DO IT!
The reality of our time spent trudging about on this spinning rock of terra firma is this ......- a decent enough chunk of life has the potential to pass us right on by, if we spend a good chunk of that time over-thinking; over-analyzing, and not making any decisions followed by any form of action on all that over-thinking and over-analyzing.
Stop thinking - simply make a decision and act on it.
