The Warriors again made a second-quarter push, using a 26-8 run to get the Chase Center crowd rocking before halftime. They outscored Denver 32-25 in the quarter.
Here are some notes from the first half of action:
Curry heats up
Steph Curry looked plenty healthy in the second quarter, scoring 11 points in the last 5:23 of the half, including two 3-pointers.
The only thing that would have elated the crowd more was if Curry had made the 27-footer he took just before the halftime buzzer.
In his Game 1 return from a foot injury, he missed his first five shots and slowly worked his way into the game. But in Game 2, he came out firing, making a 2-pointer less than a minute into his first stint on the court.
In 13 first-half minutes, Curry scored 16 points on 6-of-9 shooting (3-of-6 from 3-point range). His plus-minus is +17 at halftime.
Poole shakes Gordon
In the first quarter, Jordan Poole made a side-step 3-pointer over Aaron Gordon on the right wing. Seconds later, he gave a small shake and drove right past Gordon from the same spot. In the second quarter, he got the ball at the same place again and put a more elaborate move on Gordon, resulting in a clean layup again.
Poole is shooting hot of late, making his case to join the Splash Brothers, but he also is quicker at age 22 than Klay Thompson and Steph Curry, both in their 30s, offering a different challenge to opposing defenders.
Latest on Murray
TNT sideline reporter Jared Greenberg gave a brief update on Nuggets guard Jamal Murray, who's been out all season since tearing his ACL last April in a game at Chase Center. About a month ago, Murray played five-on-five at Denver's G League team in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
The Nuggets haven't had much opportunity for Murray to get similar action in recent weeks, though, as they haven't practiced as frequently during their stretch run and into the playoffs.
Murray's teammate, Austin Rivers, went down in the second quarter, falling on his back after a missed layup. He looked to be in significant pain but checked back in later.
Foul trouble
Draymond Green, Kevon Looney and Andrew Wiggins each have two fouls for the Warriors. Gordon, Monte Morris, DeMarcus Cousins and Bryn Forbes have two fouls for the Warriors. Looney and Morris were both subbed out early after picking up two quickly.
