If you haven't heard, I announced that Colleen Nelson and I wrote a middle-grade nonfiction book together that will be published on October 25, 2022. IF YOU CAN DREAM IT, YOU CAN DO IT: HOW 25 INSPIRING INDIVIDUALS FOUND THEIR DREAM JOBS will come out from Pajama Press on October 25th.
Since being a book reviewer and author is conflicting for me, I decided to officially "retire" from reviewing at the end of May. That gives me a chance to finish up the eARCs I currently have. I will still be reading and talking about the middle-grade books I read and love, and I will continue to support authors at MG Book Village, but I need to figure out how I'm going to use Goodreads and what to do about rating from this point forward.
I will likely be exploring this transition on the blog in May as I try to find what's going to work for me.
I read 23 books this month, 22 middle-grade and 1 young adult. I didn't read all 9 categories from my priorities for the month, but that's OK and I hope to get back to that again in June when I start to read for pleasure again.
#MUSTREADIN2022
I know that I start challenges strong and eventually lose steam partway through. I'm pleased with how many titles I did read for #MustReadIn2022, but I'm OK with letting it go at this point and don't feel the need to finish it. I have to let some things go to make room for others, and this is one of them.
CHALLENGES
I completed the first board in the Bit About Books Spring 2022 Reading Challenge, and I started a second one focusing on books by authors of AAPI heritage to complete in May. I've really enjoyed reading books for the prompts and would love to hear about your progress if you're working on it, too.
NEXT MONTH
I have 15 books I plan to read in May to finish up my eARC responsibilities so they are my priority for the month.
