Before Snapchat was created, people weren't necessarily using social media to directly talk to someone or share a photo instantly to a specific person. Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram all have interfaces that allow users to share photos and ideas to all of their followers or, if the account is public, to everyone on the app. Snapchat is reshaping this idea. The app created a platform for people to share more intimate thoughts with specific people. Snapchat requires you to have the other person app in order to share things so people tend to only have people they actually know on the app. Users are able to send text chats to specific users and the text disappears after the other user views and exits the chat box. The app also has a feature called "Snapchat Memories" This memories feature allows users to save pictures that they take through the app. It is like a second camera roll but the pictures only exist on the app. It also has a folder called "my eyes only" which is guarded with a passcode so users can save pictures that they don't want others to see.
