Well, I believe I have become keto adaptive and after counting calories causing me to fall flat on my face I have been trying to figure out what to do next to improve my relationship with food. While watching videos and reading articles I realized I think about food too much. I also received my metabolism test today that showed my cortisol, testosterone, and TSH were all normal so yay to know my metabolism is doing fine.

I probably should have done this first before counting calories but it's time I dive into the world of intermittent fasting. It's recommended for those on the keto diet. I personally don't think intermittent fasting is like a magic pill but instead a way to help with insulin spikes and be more disciplined with eating. And luckily I've read that counting calories isn't necessary. I actually went ahead and started it today. Of course, I did my research on my thyroid but my doctor's appointments are set up perfectly that if it causes problems I'll be able to know right away.

My goal with intermittent fasting is to follow the 16:8 then work my way up to 20:4 then hit OMAD. Maybe dabble with 5:2. I'm hoping that intermittent fasting helps with my appetite control and my energy levels. Other than that I don't expect to lose a significant amount of weight from intermittent fasting but it will help me get back on track with my weight loss.

I currently have an app on my phone that will have a clock running so I know when I can eat and not. I may change the time I start eating though, right now it's 10 am to 6pm. I may try 11 am to 7 pm. I'm really hoping it helps me not be so obsessed with food and wanting to eat.

On the mental health side of things, I've been feeling a tad depressed so I thought I bring back my good old "pebbles" program I do. I read a book as a kid called Stargirl and she would put a pebble in this small wagon when something good happened and take a pebble out when something bad happened. Basically I'm using that for daily productivity.

It's better to see what you have accomplished in a day rather than think about all the things you need to do. It makes me feel good because its like "oh I have done stuff today." Really great motivator for me is to see what I've accomplished. Also, it focuses on one day at a time. Can't wait to put together something to show you. It was my saving grace when I had clinical depression.

Something I heard today in a video about emotional eating; she talked about how someone who constantly thinking about food is going to end up wanting to use it. And that food is not something to make you happy, most of the time it's used to fill a void. It resonated that food shouldn't be the thing you turn to be happy and that it shouldn't be on your mind so much. I definitely think about food way too much. She also mentioned that the body doesn't carve junk food your mind does, your body will craving certain tastes like saltly or sweet doesn't mean its craving whatever, your mind determines that.

I'm also staying on a low-carb/keto diet because it makes my body happy and my stomach happy. My mental health is better when I am eating low carb.

Dates started for Keto - 10/4/2021 Weight loss so far is 15lbs Intermittent fasting started 2/8/2022. I'm curious to see if I manage to lose weight. I'll really know by Monday because of my weekend munchies.

One day at a time.
