  • Lawang Sewu

Lawang Sewu is an ancient building from the Netherlands which is very popular among travelers. Initially, this building became the Dutch colonial railway headquarters or Nederlandsch Indische Spoorweg Maatschappij (NIS). Lawang Sewu was founded in 1904. The building inside consists of three floors, with two wings stretching to the right and left.

The name Lawang Sewu is pinned because this building has many doors in it.

To break it for you, Lawang means 'door', and Sewu means 'a thousand'. Having not been taken care of for a long time, Lawang Sewu finally underwent a restoration that lasted until June 2011. Then on July 5, 2011, Lawang Sewu was inaugurated and opened to the public as a historical tourist spot.

The location of Lawang Sewu is precisely on Jalan Pemuda, Sekayu, Central Semarang, Semarang City. If you like photo hunting, Lawang Sewu is the right place to go. Especially at night, the lights around the building make Lawang Sewu even more majestic and photogenic.

  • Kauman Grand Mosque

This mosque has existed since 1750 or around the 18th century, the Kauman Mosque in Semarang holds a lot of history. This mosque became the only mosque that publicly announced Indonesia's independence some time after it proclaimed it.

Although the shape of the building has undergone many changes, the Kauman Mosque in Semarang is still suitable for historical and religious tourism. The building is distinctive, with tall pillars and a pulpit table made of teak wood. You will feel its splendor from the first step into the mosque area.   • Semarang Old Town

Semarang has an area that is dominated by ancient buildings. The Old City of Semarang, has existed since the 18th century during the Dutch East Indies. Initially, Kota Lama or The Old City, was the center of Semarang's government and settlement for the Dutch people. The buildings here have a high artistic concept.

The Old City of Semarang is also dubbed Little Netherland because there are typical European buildings around the Old City. Currently, several buildings are still well-maintained and some are not. One building that is still well-maintained is the Jiwasraya Insurance Building. The Old Town area is always crowded from morning to evening. However, at night, this area has a different atmosphere because it tends to be quiet.

The location of the Old City of Semarang is close to Semarang Tawang Station and Johor Market. You must visit this historical tourist area when traveling in the city of Semarang. If you take the train, just get off at Tawang Station, and you can continue by walking or using public transportation.

  • Blenduk Church

Blenduk Church is one of the landmarks that are identical to the Old City of Semarang. However, this church was built in 1753, has a different characteristic from the church in general, which has a towering tower shape. With a red dome-shaped roof, the Blenduk Church always attracts tourists, especially photography artists.

This church is called the Protestant Church in Western Indonesia (GPIB) Immanuel, but because of the dome-shaped roof, in Javanese terms, it is called "mblenduk." This unique and historic building is still actively used for Protestant Christian worship every Sunday and major celebrations such as Christmas and Easter.
