California Highway Patrol detectives are seeking the public's help to solve a Saturday evening shooting on eastbound Interstate 80 near State Route 113 in Solano County.

In a press release, CHP Sgt. Raul Gonzalez said that at about 6:45 p.m., patrol units were dispatched to a two-vehicle hit-and-run crash at the collision site between Dixon and Davis.

During the investigation, officers discovered a shooting and subsequent physical altercation occurred between the involved parties following the crash. Neither party was struck by gunfire, but the assault victim sustained moderate injuries, he noted in the prepared statement.

The shooting and assault suspect fled the scene afterward in a white Toyota Camry.

Detectives from the Special Investigation Unit at CHP's Golden Gate Division responded "and are actively investigating" the shooting and assault, Gonzalez said.

Anyone with information about the crimes is asked to call the CHP Investigation Tip Line at 917-4491.
