Boulder County elections officials are seeking community input on where voter service and polling centers and ballot drop boxes should be located for the 2022 general election.

The county Elections Division is gathering public input and comment through a survey and is requesting community members submit comments by Dec. 1, though the statutory deadline for input is May 2.

Mail ballots are automatically sent to all active Colorado voters under state law, and Boulder County will also open vote centers to provide services such as dropping off mail ballots, casting a ballot in person, requesting a replacement ballot, registering to vote, updating voter registration and providing voting equipment for people with disabilities.

The county will have at least 20 vote centers open on Election Day, with some locations open up to two weeks beforehand.

The county currently uses a geographic tool to identify where vote centers should be based on population and under-represented communities, Clerk Molly Fitzpatrick wrote in a letter accompanying the survey.

"However, we need to have public input to help identify new locations we should consider, as well as variables such as traffic impacts or challenging parking," Fitzpatrick wrote. "Additionally, we seek feedback to find out if there is a neighborhood, and potentially a specific location, you think would be an excellent location for a 24-Hour Mail Ballot Drop Box."

Surveys can be filled out and submitted online at BoCo.org/2020ElectionSurvey or dropped off in person or mailed to 1750 22rd St. Suite 200, Boulder 80301.
