For the Fall Reading Challenge, Kathie and I got together and brainstormed some ideas thinking about our past two challenges. We decided that perhaps like us, you missed travelling. We all know that books can take us to all kinds of places, and our Reading Passport Challenge was born. The Challenge begins today (October 1st) and runs until the end of the year (December 31st).

Challenge Info at a Glance

  • First and foremost, ALL of our Challenges are to be ENJOYABLE and not something added to your plate – PLEASE make them work for you.
  • All books qualify – picture books, graphic novels etc.
  • Use the prompts as a guideline – be creative with the non-book- related prompts. There is no right or wrong answer.
  • Do it as fast as you can or until the last minute.
  • Complete it once or more than once.

Passport Details

  • There are three categories, each represented by a different icon.
    • Genre Category (Book Icon) to explore different genres with some broad topics, and yes, genres may be repeated, depending on your interests.
    • Setting Category (Suitcase Icon) a chance to think about settings and the role they play in stories.
    • Activities Category (Heart Icon) an opportunity to share your favourite trips and the ones you are looking forward to and share a travel trip to make our get-aways more enjoyable.

We will cover the various icons with book covers and images as we reach the various destinations or share our adventures. There are two designs available for your suitcase. The first design will have books in the first two columns, while the second design will alternate books.

Kathie and I will share our travel updates on our social media accounts. You can find us here; hnatiukl_turningthepage on Instagram and @lhnatiuk on Twitter and @kathiemacisaac on Instagram, and @kathiemacisaac on Twitter. Most likely, we will both create a blog post at the beginning of November and December. We'd love it if you tag us, so we can follow your progress and see what you're reading. You can keep track of our books any way you choose, but feel free to use the printout above if you want to print it out for your reading journal.

We both know we will add more titles to our Option piles, but we are looking forward to learning more about you and your travel life! Here's to a phenomenal trip providing us all with some memories to talk about in the future!
