Happy January and Happy New Year, reader! ▶️ Kids Ask Authors Answers Feature Exciting news! 2026 started off with a super fun appearance all about Polar Post hosted by two amazing authors, co-hosts of Kids Ask Authors Answer. I had the great opportunity to answer a number of questions from children and even participated in a rapid fire quiz! I had a blast! Click here to watch this super fun episode. In addition to the interview, you can find a number of goodies related to Polar Post on their website such as activities, lesson plans, and the read aloud. This past summer, I had the opportunity to see his National Memorial in person in Washington D.C. It was breathtaking! This memorial sits on the banks of the Tidal Basin and is carved out of a 30-foot piece of granite called "Stone of Hope". Below please find one of our photos from the trip of it. You can click here to read more about his legacy and information on this memorial. In particular, I recommend the section called "Words that Inspire." Take a moment to read his inspirational words and the inscriptions on the memorial to honor this day. Visiting this memorial filled me with gratitude and hope which is something I hope all of us can carry into this new year. 💬 National Thesaurus Day Happy National Thesaurus Day on January 18th! This day honors Peter Mark Roget, the author of Roget’s Thesaurus, who was born on this day in 1779. He published the first thesaurus in 1852. To celebrate this unique day, expand your vocabulary and search the thesaurus for a different word. Happy December, reader! ▶️ Kids Ask Authors Answers Kids Ask Authors Answer is a super fun and interactive YouTube series where real kids get to ask real authors their most curious questions about children’s books! Each episode features a new children's book read aloud followed by kid-submitted questions that the author answers on camera with no scripts, no prep, just genuine reactions and fun. Whether your child loves reading, dreams of writing their own stories, or simply enjoys hearing authors talk about their books, this series makes storytime come alive in a whole new way. Teachers and parents can sign up their classrooms or children to participate by sending in questions for upcoming featured authors. Your child’s question might be the next one featured! In English, this translates to "Christmas Book Flood." Iceland started this awesome tradition during World War II of giving and receiving new books on this evening, but its essence lies in the joy of reading them together. Check them out here! 🗂️ Happy Dewey Decimal System Day! Melvil Dewey was born on December 10, 1851. In 1873, he invented the most widely used library classification system called the Dewey Decimal System. It was first published in the United States in 1876. It is used today in more than 140 countries and translated into more than 30 different languages. The system places the books on the shelf by subject using numbers from 000 to 999. It is called “Decimal” because it uses numbers to the right of the decimal point for more detail. Each subject has its own set of numbers. I looked up my thesis book at my university’s library and it’s number is 361.4 A756a1999. The 300’s contains the classification of social sciences. To celebrate this day, go to the library, look at the call number on your book, and know that this system was created back in 1873! 📷 Photos Below please find a photo from a recent holiday craft fair. In 2026, how will you lead with compassion and conviction. How will you prioritize your home: your wife and children with presence and protection? When you are old, all the leadership seminars and crushing it in the marketplace you fought for, sacrificing your home, will be hollow. Instead, prioritize home. Let character, courage and conviction flow from living it first. Have the grit to do what’s right, even if you have to stand alone doing it. Want to lead better? Then lead yourself and your wife. You lead for the benefit of others. I guarantee you your wife and children want it, and even if they’ve been so deceived by the world to resist godly leadership and strength of a Father in the home, they need it. Like all men, you are leaving a Legacy— building it day by day. Will that legacy be a blessing upon your family or a curse? Choose this day: for set before you is the choice for life or death, blessings or curses. Therefore, choose Life! Perhaps Nothing is under attack more than manhood, godly manhood, faithful leadership today. In talking to men, society puts them down, when they are seeking the Lord, they develop vision and are unsettled with what they see around them and want to see an impact. Start at home. Choose servant leadership. You are needed. Weak, cowardly men are the opposite of gentle, boldly courageous, servant leaders who face their fears. Courage is not the absence of fear but facing it. You are needed at home, in the Church, in the Culture.
