In an initiative to bolster civic engagement, the Leonardtown Business Association has announced a Candidate Forum for those running in the upcoming mayoral and town council elections. This event is scheduled to take place at The Rex Theater in Leonardtown, Maryland, from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM on Tuesday, April 30, with doors opening at 6 PM.
The forum aims to provide a platform for Leonardtown residents to interact directly with the candidates, offering a deeper understanding of their plans and visions for the town. The setting at The Rex Theater is expected to facilitate an open dialogue, allowing voters to pose questions and gauge the candidates' responses on various community issues.
Attendance is open to the public, though only residents within the Leonardtown Incorporated District hold voting rights in the election. The association stresses the importance of this event as a means for voters to make informed decisions about their future leadership.
To enhance voter participation and ensure that community concerns are addressed, the association is inviting residents to submit their questions in advance. Questions can be sent via email to leonardtownmaryland@gmail.com with "candidate question" as the subject line.
This candidate forum underscores the community's commitment to a transparent and engaged democratic process, urging all interested parties to attend and contribute to the discussions that shape their governance.
