Indian Head, MD – Henry E. Lackey High School recently played a significant role in the grand reopening of the Dash In convenience store in Indian Head, an event that highlighted community engagement and support. The reopening celebrated the store's extensive renovations and its long-standing presence in the community.
Henry E. Lackey High School recently helped celebrate the grand opening of the Indian Head location of Dash In convenience stores. The Wills Group, owners of the store, presented a $1,000 check to Lackey.
The Wills Group, which owns Dash In, made the event memorable by donating $1,000 to Lackey High School, reinforcing its commitment to local involvement. "We appreciate the community spirit and Dash In recognizing our role in the community. This side of Charles County is like a small town, so we appreciate their support of our school," said Cheryl Davis, Principal of Lackey High School. The contribution underscores a partnership between the business and educational sectors aimed at fostering a stronger community.
The event saw participation from students of Lackey High School, particularly those from spring sports teams and the cheerleading squad. They joined school staff and community members in marking a new chapter for the well-known local store. Julian "Blackie" Wills III, president and CEO of the Wills Group, expressed his gratitude during the event, saying, "Thank you to Lackey and everything they do in the community."
Dash In's Indian Head location has undergone significant changes, transitioning from its original establishment as a Bar Mills Texaco station in the 1960s. The site was rebuilt as a Dash In in the late 1980s and has now been remodeled to offer a modernized setting and enhanced services to meet the evolving needs of the community.
The grand reopening also drew other notable attendees, including representatives from the Wills Group, members of the Potomac Heights Volunteer Fire Department Rescue Squad, and local mascot Pinch from the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs baseball team, along with Ron Lord from the stadium. Their presence highlighted the wide-ranging community interest and support for the revamped store and its role in the local economy.
The renovated Dash In not only promises to serve as a convenient stop for residents but also as a space that supports local activities and fosters community ties, continuing its decades-long tradition of community service.
