from Her Coastal Cottage: Where Truth and Love Rise (Chapter Two)
... buried motherly desires erupted inside her when she stood on the front porch of the cozy place that she was desperate to own. She became a mixture of consuming fire and cleansing tears. She wanted to wrap her arms around the sullen frame and never let go. She wanted to chain herself to one of the peeling porch pillars to prove to every passerby, and every bird soaring above, that the roaming writer and the abandoned abode were meant for each other. A shabby cottage by the sea in desperate need of some tender loving care. So was she. A beautiful partnership they could be.

Writing thoughts:
I prefer quiet when I write, however, the moments leading up to writing usually involve moving to music that matches the tone for what I will be writing. It is less about the lyrics than the emotions the song evokes in me. I currently have fifty-one playlists that cover a range of topics and emotions. This song, Simple Things by Ziggy Alberts, is on my Novella playlist.
There was a time in my life when I would have considered reading or writing extensively about passionate love, including foundational self-love, as a frivolous waste of my time. This would describe most of my life, prior to starting my creative writing journey almost four years ago. There are too many other "valuable" subjects to read about and research. For many years those reading selections were often directed by my professors, as a long-time student, or by school districts I worked for, as a long-time secondary English teacher. My writing journey has taught me many things, including how empowering and soul expanding it is to write about these "simple things."
Cheers to creative pursuits and the valuable lessons they bring.
Check out this beautiful post about music's influence by talented writer, Samantha Burgett.
